Nightlife in Aspen Colorado
ASPEN MOMENTS · NIGHTLIFE GUIDE
Nightlife in Aspen Colorado
Aspen after dark rivals New York, Miami, and LA — in a 450-person intimate venue or a speakeasy under a historic hotel. The scene ranges from world-class live music to exclusive clubs, whiskey bars, and rooftop parties. Here's where to go, from the first drink to last call.
Live Music
Belly Up — 450 S. Galena St.
Listed by Rolling Stone as one of the best clubs in America. Over 300 concerts a year in an intimate 450-seat venue with a sound system that rivals any club in the world. Stadium headliners in a room where you can practically shake the artist's hand. Past performers span every genre. Tickets sell out quickly — check the calendar before you book your trip and buy ahead. Open daily 2pm–midnight.
Silver City — Elks Building Basement
Mountain saloon vibes in the basement of the historic, nearly 150-year-old Elks Building. The last public pool table in Aspen, a wall of whiskey, a jukebox full of country, and live music from touring bands and local acts. Monday night karaoke is a local institution. One of the most authentic bars in town.
Aspen Music Festival — Summer Evenings
Festival students regularly perform informally around town in summer evenings — most famously outside Paradise Bakery. Completely free, completely charming. One of the small details that makes an Aspen summer feel different from anywhere else.
Bars & Lounges
Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar
One of the most talked-about bars in Aspen right now. Vintage chandeliers, plush seating, and an extensive menu of creative craft cocktails. Lively atmosphere with great music — expect a crowd on weekends. Dress sharp, arrive early if you want a quieter corner, and don't skip the specialty cocktails.
BUCK
Over 200 whiskeys, creative comfort food, and a genuinely fun crowd. Not the place to see celebrities — the place where locals actually go. Great for a high-energy game night or a relaxed dinner that turns into a late one. Monday Pasta Night and Saturday Rib Night are weekly draws.
Ajax Tavern — Base of the Gondola
The classic Aspen après-ski spot. Ski-in bar with a great outdoor terrace, truffle fries, Clicquot champagne, and celebrity-watching. Inside, Chair 9 Bar has live DJs every day. Worth the splurge for the experience.
Bad Harriet at Hotel Jerome
An underground speakeasy beneath the iconic Hotel Jerome. Craft cocktails in a moody, intimate setting. One of the best-kept secrets in Aspen — ideal for a sophisticated start or end to the evening.
Wine Bar at The Little Nell
Open 3pm–9pm daily. Thirty-five wines by the glass, an extraordinary cellar, and a sommelier team that won the Michelin Sommelier Award. DJs spinning vinyl on weekends. The most civilized pre-dinner stop in Aspen.
Aspen Art Museum Rooftop — Saturdays
Every Saturday 5–9pm, the museum's rooftop hosts après parties with cocktails, DJ sets, and mountain views. Free with museum admission. One of the most unique evening experiences in Aspen — especially in summer.
Stranahan's Whiskey Lodge
On the walking mall near Wagner Park. Colorado's first Rocky Mountain Single Malt whiskey in a western-style bar. Extensive cocktail menu and laid-back atmosphere. Great spot for a nightcap.
Hidalgo
Hidden downstairs in the former 39 Degrees space, Hidalgo is moody, sexy, and agave-forward — exactly the kind of late-night cocktail cave Aspen has been missing. Creative mezcal and tequila cocktails, dark corners, and an intimate atmosphere that feels like a well-kept secret.
Clubs
Escobar
Aspen's most iconic late-night club. The tunnel-shaped interior with checkered floors and colorful lights has been launching people onto the dance floor for over a decade. Best DJs in town, VIP section, and a celebrity-friendly atmosphere.
The Snow Lodge at St. Regis
The Aspen outpost of Montauk's famous Surf Lodge. Italian food, caviar service, craft cocktails, and live performances — all by a cozy fireplace. Transitions seamlessly from dinner to dancing. One of the most stylish nightlife venues in the Rockies.
GALA
Named after Salvador Dalí's muse, GALA is Aspen's most exclusive nightlife destination — 415 E. Hyman Ave. By night, the space transforms into a Miami-style club where celebrities and high-profile guests converge. International DJs, innovative cocktails, and an invite-only energy that sets it apart from anything else in the Rockies.
The Sterling
Aspen's newest nightlife hotspot, blending chic club vibes with cozy lounge appeal. Tapas menu from 6pm to 10pm, followed by DJs, dancing, and exclusive bottle service. From soulful jazz-funk to pulsating techno, The Sterling curates diverse musical experiences right in the heart of town.
Practical Tips
Belly Up tickets are worth buying before you arrive — shows sell out weeks in advance. For clubs and busier bars, plan to be out by 10pm if you want a table. Aspen's nightlife is year-round but peaks during ski season (December–March) and summer festival season (June–August).
Getting home after midnight? The RFTA stops running around midnight. Arrange your ride back with Aspen Moments in advance — especially useful for groups coming back from Snowmass or late-night events.
