ASPEN MOMENTS · DENVER TO ASPEN

Land at Denver International and a private chauffeur takes it from there: your bags, the four-hour mountain drive and the last turn into your driveway in Aspen or Snowmass. We drive this route in luxury full-size SUVs and 11-passenger vans for couples, families, ski groups and business travelers who would rather watch the Rockies go by than steer through them.

Who it's for and what you get

It's for anyone landing at DEN with Aspen as the destination who doesn't want to rent a car, learn I-70 in a snowstorm or wait on a shared van. The vehicle and the driver are yours alone, from baggage claim to the moment your last bag is inside.

  • Private and direct: no other passengers, no stops you didn't ask for
  • About 220 miles, 3h45–4h15 from DEN in good conditions, via I-70 and Glenwood Springs
  • Flight tracking: if your flight is late, your driver knows and adjusts
  • Door to door: from DEN or any Denver address to your hotel, rental or home in Aspen or Snowmass

How it works: DEN to your door

  1. 1

    Land at DEN

We track your flight from the moment you book. If it's delayed, your pickup moves with it, and you don't need to call.

  2. 2

    Meet your chauffeur

Your driver meets you at baggage claim with a name sign, so there's no hunting for your ride.

  3. 3

    Bags and skis loaded

Your driver loads suitcases, ski bags and car seats while you settle in. Want groceries, coffee or a pharmacy on the way? Stops are on request.

  4. 4

    West on I-70

Up into the mountains past Idaho Springs, through the Eisenhower Tunnel (about 80 miles from the airport, and at 11,158 feet the highest point on the U.S. Interstate system), over Vail Pass at 10,662 feet and down the Eagle River valley.

  5. 5

Glenwood Springs, about 3 hours in

I-70 threads Glenwood Canyon beside the Colorado River, and you leave it at Glenwood Springs (exit 116). It's a good place to stretch your legs.

  6. 6

Up the valley on Highway 82

The last 40 miles or so follow the Roaring Fork River through Carbondale and Basalt, about an hour to Aspen.

  7. 7

    Your door

Hotel, rental home or private residence: your driver helps with the bags all the way in. In good conditions the whole trip from DEN takes 3h45–4h15.

Winter on I-70

From fall to spring this is a mountain winter drive, and we plan it that way.

Traction and chain laws, in plain words

When a storm comes in, Colorado turns on its Traction Law: every vehicle needs winter or all-weather tires with at least 3/16 inch of tread (marked M+S or with the mountain-snowflake symbol), or chains or an approved traction device. In a severe storm the Chain Law follows, and that is the last step before a road closes. On I-70 between Morrison and Dotsero, CDOT can enforce these rules from September 1 to May 31. Fines start at $100 plus a surcharge, and reach $500 if a stuck vehicle closes a lane. If you rent, check the tires before you count on them. Our vehicles and chauffeurs are set up for it.

When Glenwood Canyon closes

I-70 through Glenwood Canyon, between Dotsero (exit 133) and Glenwood Springs (exit 116), can close for crashes, rockfall or, in summer, flash-flood warnings over the Grizzly Creek burn scar. Once you're in the canyon there's no way off, so our drivers check COtrip before they enter. If it's shut, we decide with you: wait somewhere comfortable until it reopens, or take the long detour CDOT signs, north on Highway 9 to Kremmling, west on US 40 and south on Highway 13 back to I-70 at Rifle, which adds hours. On a storm day, plan on 1 to 2 extra hours either way.

When Independence Pass is the shortcut

From the week before Memorial Day weekend until it closes for winter (late October to mid-November), Highway 82 over Independence Pass is open: about 155–160 miles from Denver by way of Leadville and Twin Lakes, over the Continental Divide at 12,095 feet. It's the shorter, more dramatic summer road; ask for it when you book. Vehicles over 35 feet aren't allowed, and in winter it's closed (this year it closed on October 31). Before you plan on it, see is Independence Pass open.

Round trip: Denver to Aspen and back

If you arrive through Denver and fly home from it too, book both legs at once. The return pickup is planned backwards from your flight: the drive, the season and time to check in. Our guide on what time to leave Aspen for your Denver flight has the numbers, and our private car from Aspen to Denver covers the ride home.

One booking for both directions also means the same team knows your plans for the week: a flight that moves, an extra stop on the way out, skis that need to come home.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the drive from Denver airport to Aspen?

About 3 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours 15 minutes in good conditions, for roughly 220 miles via I-70 and Highway 82. Snowstorms or a Glenwood Canyon closure can add 1 to 2 hours or more.

How much is a private car from Denver to Aspen?

It depends on the vehicle and the date. Enter your flight or pickup in Book a Ride and you see the full price before you book. A 50% deposit confirms the ride and the balance is charged 24 hours before pickup; cancel more than 48 hours ahead and you're refunded, minus the card processing fee.

Where do I meet my driver at Denver International Airport?

At baggage claim. Your driver waits there with a name sign and has been tracking your flight, so you go straight from the carousel to the car.

What if my flight is delayed?

We track every flight in real time. If yours is late, your driver adjusts the pickup. You don't need to call or message us.

Can you provide child seats?

Yes, on request. Tell us how many and the children's ages when you book.

Do you carry skis and snowboards?

Yes. Your driver loads skis, boards and luggage for you. Tell us your bag count when you book so we match the vehicle; for bigger groups or a lot of gear, the 11-passenger Ford Transit has room for everything.

What happens if I-70 or Glenwood Canyon closes?

Our drivers check COtrip before the canyon. If the road is closed, we decide with you whether to wait for it to reopen or take CDOT's detour, and we keep you posted along the way. Plan on extra time on storm days.

Can you pick me up late at night or very early?

Yes. We plan the pickup around your flight, including late-night arrivals and early-morning departures.
